The thesis deals with the lexical-semantic and grammatical peculiarities of verbal idioms in contemporary Arabic. By means of the study it has been determined that verbal phraseological units in Arabic is a complex and diverse system from the grammatical structure’s and semantic point. For the first time verbal idioms of contemporary Arabic are studied and analіzed completely and fully, also phraseological units are classified according to their lexical, semantic and grammatical features. It has been determined that the vast majority of verbal idioms include in its structure names of components that represent those of body parts – somatisms
