Essay

The thesis is devoted to the research of salicylic acid influence on status of the photosynthetic apparatus components, the accumulation of heavy metals, physiological and biochemical indicators of the cell structures damage of wheat and maize plants under cadmium stress. Salicylic acid increases the content of photosynthetic pigments and solidity of pigment-protein complexes in leaves of the wheat and maize plants, affected by cadmium ions. It was noted more intensive decrease in chlorophyll b in both plant species and reduction of the chlorophyll fraction and content in light-harvesting complex. Preincubation with salicylic acid resulted in reduction of the chlorophyll degradation, both chlorophyllase activity and formation of the pheophytin.
