The dissertation explores the evolution of scientific thought on the nature of social policy, the major components of organizational-economic mechanism of formation and realization of social policy. The author investigates the current state of social policy in Ukraine, analyzed the sources of its financial support. Methodical approaches to the evaluation of the effectiveness of social policies by calculating the integral index of social development and comparison of the dynamics of social spending areas.
