Lazar Y. Optimization of cataract extraction surgical technique

Object: cataract. Purpose: optimizate the surgical treatment of cataract extraction, using the improved methods of predicting of surgically induced astigmatism, corneal marking methods and toric intraocular lenses implantation. Methods: general ophthalmological, statistical, dynamic contour tonometer, keratotopohraf, ultrasonic biometr. Scientific data about the features of corneal deformation changes in the postoperative period depending on corneal-compensated intraocular pressure and corneal rigidity for degree of surgically induced astigmatism were expanded. Scientific data about the prognostic factors of development of surgically induced astigmatism over 1,0 diopters were contributed. The dependence of surgically induced astigmatism degree from patients' age, level of preoperative astigmatism, corneal incision size and location was established. The improved methods were proposed for noninvasive marking of corneal meridians and the way for toric intraocular lens implantation. The recommendations for selection of methods of prevention and correction of corneal astigmatism during phacoemulsification were developed. Results have been implemented in the Filatov Institute, Transcarpathian, Lviv and Vinnitsa regional clinical hospitals, SI "Clinical Hospital STBU" Lviv Railway".
