Dissertation work is devoted to research of theoretical, methodical and practical questions of effectiveness of functioning of the enterprises of dairy branch and ways of its increase. The conceptual apparatus of subject matter of efficiency and effectiveness was investigated. The basic approaches to disclosure of effectiveness and efficiency content were highlighted. The results of investigation showed that the concept of "efficiency" and "effectiveness" are treated differently and require clarification. The theoretical basis of management and methodological framework for the assessment of the enterprises' performance were reviewed and summarized. The author's approach to determining the effectiveness of the enterprise's operation as a subsequent stage of development of "efficiency" concept was proposed. There was proposed the methodical approach to the integrated assessment of efficiency improvement of milk processing companies operation, which involves the use of indicators on the basis of: business, economics, management level, resource savings, the level of production technologies progressivity, the level of motivation of employees and profitability of sales. Sequence steps, and recommendations concerning measures directed on increase of effectiveness of functioning of the enterprises of the milk-processing industry are defined.
