The dissertation deals with philosophical and legal investigation of gender equality as one of the main basis of the state of social and legal orientation where a person granted the supreme value. The existing approaches to the interpretation of gender and gender equality in the legal system of philosophical knowledge is analyzed. The body and sex as a subject of philosophical and legal research is demonstrated. Determinants of difference of sex and gender in legal relations are defined. The influence of religious norms in gender relations is explored. The role of society and social norms in shaping of gender equality is determined.
