Object - the process of teaching mathematical subjects to students of higher technical educational institutions; aim - to find out the influence of implementing a scientifically substantiated theory of communicative competence forming in students of higher technical educational institutions during their learning of mathematical subjects on the level of competence of prospective engineers; methods -theoretical, empirical, of mathematical statistics; novelty - the research is the first to provide a theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested technology of communicative competence forming in students of higher technical educational institutions during their learning of mathematical subjects; the term "communicative competence of students of higher technical educational institutions " as an integral quality performing the function of adaptation and one's adequate functioning in the society allowing for successful solution of learning and cognitive problems and professional problems in perspective has been defined; the structure of communicative competence of prospective engineers has been analysed; the criteria and indices of prospective engineers' communicative competence formation have been specified; methods and means of implementing the stages of the technology of communicative competence forming in students of higher technical educational institutions during their learning of mathematical subjects have been investigated; results - the scientifically substantiated theory of communicative competence forming in students of higher technical educational institutions during their learning of mathematical subjects has undergone experimental testing and can be used in higher technical educational institutions. The materials of the research can be used by the teaching staff engaged in working out programmes of teaching and preparing teaching manuals as well as by the scholars conducting pedagogical researches directed at the improvement of training prospective engineers for successful professional activity; field - pedagogy.
