Essay

The dissertation focuses on the peculiarities of the verbalized archetypal concepts in William Golding's prose fiction. The subject of the study is the structure and correlation of the archetypal concepts WATER, FIRE, AIR and EARTH in prose fiction texts. The research substantiates the hypothesis that an archetypal concept is a multilevel lingua-mental body with a stable core, comprising non-evaluative neutral units, and with two oppositely directed peripheries, formed by positive and negative units, respectively. It is associated with the individual's experience and ethnic identity. Verbal integration of the archetypal concepts of the elements within correlation segments enables their analysis within larger lingua-mental body - the archetypal macro-concept ELEMENT.
