Essay

The development of the Chernihiv Historical Museum by V.V. Tarnovsky from time of its foundation till the beginning of the ХХІ-th century, work directions and forming of fund collections are investigated in Ph.D. thesis. This manuscript have been put on attracting a variety of published and unpublished materials, some of which are put into scientific use for the first time. The Chernihiv Historical Museum by V.V. Tarnovsky is one of the oldest and richest museums in Ukraine, its collections include more than 200 thousand exhibits and have not only regional, but also national significance. The variety and quality of museum's collection of The Chernihiv Historical Museum by V.V. Tarnovsky is on the top of twenty the leading museums in Ukraine. The Chernihiv Historical Museum by V.V. Tarnovsky has passed the way of development from a separate private collection and a few small city museums to a valuable establishment and has become the centre of museum business in Chernihiv region and presently has got a regional status.
