Dalekorey M. Ukrainian Orthodox Church as the subject of Social and Economic Activity: Religions studiens Context.

The dissertation deals with the basic ethical attitudes of Christianity and Islam, which formed the basis of socio-economic activities of traditional religions. The values which have not lost their relevance in today's globalized world have been defined. The main stages of economic development of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine have been analyzed. The method of periodization is based on the criteria of income and the basic type of property relations with the secular power. It is noted that in the modern era there is an economic revival of the OCU and the search of an effective model of economic activity. The basic sources of revenue of the budget of the church of the UOC at the present stage of its activity have been investigated. These sources inciude the donations of people, selling of the candles, religious services, renting of the property, sponsors' donations (businesses and individuals), ecumenical organizations' grants, income from commercial projects of structural church units and volunteer (usually not monetary) assistance. Houses, land lots, objects of industrial, social, charitable, cultural, educational and other necessary properties for the core activities of the UOC are its main economic resources. The financial activity of the Church has been investigated. The main items of expenditure are spent on maintenance of authorized activity, publication of religious liturgical literature, repair and renovation of churches, support of the papas, charity, etc.
