The dissertation deals with the research of legal regulation of social security in case of disease in Ukraine. The notion of disease as a social risk, which is the basis of the right to social security, is revealed. The difference between social risks "disease" and "disability" is substantiated. Taking into consideration social consequences of disease for person, medical social security and material social security are differentiated It is affirmed that the norms which regulates relations of social security in case of disease are the part of two branches of law: health protection and social security
