The thesis presents an integrated analysis of the system characteristics of the English nouns which the English Possessive-Substantive Constructions consist of, the definition of their regular features functioning in the texts of the Fiction and Publicistic Discourse. The results obtained are employed in the Teaching Practice at the lessons in Theoretical Grammar of Modern English, Stylistics, in the working out of the special courses in Cognitive and Generative Grammar and Linguistics. The aim of the research is to give the complex and full analysis of the English Possessive Constructions in Modern English and regard the factors that influence the usage of the nouns in the Genitive Case form. The phenomenon of proposition is researched by means of the concept analysis and as a result the cognitive parameters of the possessive-substantive constructions are defined. With the help of the statistical analysis the usage degree of the English nouns in the Genitive Case form was calculated and the difference in their usage was demonstrated It was parameterized, that in most cases the differences between British and American variants of modern English are not significant. The usage degree of English nouns in the genitive case form in the journalistic discourse of American English is the highest. It refers to all three major semantic classes of English nouns. Briefness, one of the stylistic features of the mass communication language is reflected in the tendency to text compression. This mainly refers to the American English.
