The thesis is a comprehensive study of cognitive and pragmatic aspects of allusive anthroponyms functioning in the English publicistic discourse. In the research the semantic specificity of English allusive anthroponyms is defined, frame model of concepts verbalized by allusive anthroponyms is devised. The main terminals of frame model of allusive anthroponyms are nationality, sex, appearance, character, field of activity, achievement and others. Grammatical and word-formative markers which are the features of allusiveness of English anthroponyms are represented in the thesis. The features of conceptual phenomenon obtained by anthroponym enable its allusive functioning in English publicistic discourse.
