Lykhosherstova M. Functional-semantic Field of Temporality in Arabic and Ukrainian

This thesis focuses on the study of the semantic category of temporality by disclosing means of its expression in the systems of Arabic and Ukrainian in contrastive aspect. Theoretical and methodological basis of the studying of functional-semantic field of temporality, its construction and structure have been generalized. Methods of the functional-semantic field of temporality comparison in modern Arabic and Ukrainian have been developed. Modeling of microfield of past, present and future tenses has been accomplished and their composition and structure have been determined. Peculiarities of the interaction of multi-level linguistic units with a common temporal semantics have been analyzed and peculiarities of components of functional-semantic field of temporality realization in categorical situations and situations related to metaphor have been studied.
