The dissertation focuses on the specificity of the concepts of "the nation" and "the national idea" in the context of the works of Yahya Kemal Beyatl? (1884-1958), a Turkish writer of the National literature period (Milli Edebiyat). The Turkish national sphere of concepts including the concepts of "the nation" and "the national idea" in poetic and journalistic works of Y.K. Beyatl? is a complex of concepts, i.e. a totality of mental observations and perceptions acceptable for the Turkish nation as modified by the individual author's experience and the Turkish national elite affiliation. The analysis of the studies carried out by such Turkish researchers as S. Ba?er, ?. El?in, E. Erverdi, D. ?zer, A. Debbao?lu, O. T?rkdo?an, Y. Bayraktutan who focused on the matters of genesis of the national consciousness, the nation and the national idea and the study of the Turkish writers' works of different periods (namely Tanzimat, Servet-i Funun, Fedjr-i Ati and the National literature) where the highest national activity was observed (H.E. Ad?var, Z. G?kalp, O. Seyfettin, Y.K. Beyatl?) give us reason to reflect on a well-founded understanding of cultural and historical processes which contributed to formation of the Turkish national consciousness and causality of the concepts of "the nation" and "the national idea" in the creative author's concept. The purposeful analysis of commentaries, articles, poetic works of the writer and the reference to numerous biographies of the latter helped to form a complex approach to studying of the creative personality of Y.K. Beyatl?.
