Essay

The thesis is devoted to the chamber vocal works of Polish composer Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937) in the aspect of the transformation of his individual style. In this paper we propose an integrated approach, which reflects his creative and life way, aesthetic positions, peculiarities of the style. The main characteristic of cultural and historic phenomenon that had an influence on the statement of composer's personality is also given in the work. The emphasis is made on the study of the little-known biography and analysis of the music language and the main peculiarities oh chamber vocal works created by the composer. A thorough study of chamber vocal music gave the opportunity to follow the development of musical language and aesthetic basis which were present in different periods of creativity of Szymanowski. It is seen that artistic principles were formed according to chamber vocal genre. And it is shown that stylistic processes had a rapid evolutionary character. So we may see the internal and external factors that caused qualitative modification in his individual style. It is established that Szymanowski belongs to those artists who gave preferences to internal factors such as literature and poetry. The point is that the poetry was one of the most important factors which gave an inspiration to the composer. Moreover, Szymanowski loved poetry because he wanted to find his "ego" there, and was always looking for philosophical views that were close to him. So he could find the answer to his spiritual and intellectual questions. Figuratively thematic area of chamber vocal works is very diverse. It has two main spheres. The first relates to the experiences of existential nature and the second, not less important, is dedicated to love lyrics which is shown in all manifestations and this sphere is connected with the previous one. It is marked that all works are imbued with the principle of artistic synthesis. The presence of strong strigina and knowledge of his own "ego" gave to composer a great possibility to integrate in the space of his individual style and create a lot of heterogeneous identity elements. Different aesthetic philosophical, musical stylish sources were reconsidered by the composer through the prism of his subjective worldview and life experience. All these things were transformed into a new quality. So their combination was not eclectic, but organic (except some early works). It is proven that chamber vocal music of Szymanowski is an organic and typical phenomenon for the transition period in the development of European musical culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when the epoch of Modernism came.
