Essay

The dissertation is devoted to date and little-known problem of psychopathological features and cognitive impairment in patients with paranoid schizophrenia and comorbid hypertension. There are some reasons to believe that the accompanying hypertension is a factor that aggravates the course of paranoid schizophrenia , which manifests itself primarily impairment of cognitive functioning , namely indicators of span and selective attention, executive function . It was also found that the association of schizophrenia with essential hypertension is more frequent depressive-paranoid and asthenic-apathetic symptoms. Under the influence of pathogenic (antipsychotic and antihypertensive) therapy appears improvement in the scope and selectivity of attention, executive function. Indicators of visual memory remain unchanged virtually, thus reflecting persistent deficit phenomenon.
