Ivashchenko N. Internal picture of the disease and rehabilitation of patients with paranoid schizophrenia

The dissertational research provides theoretical generalization and presents new solution of actual scientific problems of increase the efficiency of complex rehabilitation of patients with paranoid schizophrenia (PS) by differential correction of internal picture of disease (IPD) based on the study of clinical and psychopathological features of the disease, attitudes toward illness and social functioning (SF) such persons. During the study, the structure of IPD of 120 patients with PS and its relationship with the severity of psychopathological symptomatology, peculiarities of illness perceptions, psychological defense mechanisms (PDM) and the level of SF in its various fields was revealed. Based on the obtained results rehabilitational complex for patients with PS with differentiated psychocorrection of IPD was developed and its effectiveness by dynamic clinical parameters and data of psychodiagnostic investigations was evaluated. Using of proposed complex allowed to obtain significant (p<0.01) improvements in clinical dynamics of PS and SF of patients and achieve harmonization of IPD by reducing the frequency of maladaptive variants relation to disease and reducing intensity of destructive PDM.
