Essay

The dissertation is devoted to tendencies, trends and historiographic objective laws governing the study of ethnic history of south-eastern Ukraine in the middle of the19th century - the early 20th century. The historical stages of the problem study have been determined. The features of the approaches to the history of the Germans, the Greeks, the Jewish people, the Serbians of the region in the 19th - the early 20th centuries have been found out as well as the place of this problem in the historical works and its subordination to wider subject contexts. It is shown the spectrum of estimating the key subjects of the history of ethnic communities - the problems of economic development of the region, peculiarities of social life organization, cultural development and the problem of identity saving. The high degree of the researches and ideological instructions correlation during the Soviet period has been fixed. General researches of O. Druzhinina, V. Kabuzan, N. Polonska-Vasylenko into the history of the region are determined to become fundamental both in the research of colonisational processes and social and economic history of south-eastern Ukraine. The conditions of stimulating the ethnic and historical and regional researches in the independent Ukraine, their formation into an effective instituted school in the national historiography have been determined. The basic subject and methodological priorities of the modern Ukrainian historians have been analysed as to the problem.
