Object of research - metabolic melatonin, autonomic dysfunction and psycho-social disadaptation in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); оbjective: improve treatment of patients with IBS by adjusting exchange melatonin, status of the autonomic nervous system and psychological disorders such patients; methods: the clinical, biochemical, instrumental, psychological, statistical; novelty - clarified the main directions of deviation vegetative homeostasis in patients with IBS, proved a violation of melatonin production, showing the presence of high levels of anxiety and depressive disorders in patients with IBS, confirmed the link between declining 6-sulfoksimelatonin and development of IBS, autonomic dysbalance and mental disorders, developed the treatment of patients with IBS with melatonin; introduced into clinical practice of gastroenterology department of Vinnytsia Regional Hospital named after Pirogov and the learning process of the department of internal meditsyny
