Essay

Object: bacterial endophthalmitis, diseased by Staphylococcus aureus. Purpose: to increase the effectiveness of treatment of bacterial staphylococcus endophthalmitis of rabbits by developing a new method of combined treatment with application of antibacterial photodynamic therapy and intravitreous injection of vancomycin basing on clinical, histomorphological changes of the eye, microbiological status and peculiarities of general and local immune response. Methods: ophthalmic, microbiological, immunological, gistomorphological, statistics; direct and undirect ophthalmoscopes, "Alcon Ultra scan", digital camera "Canon S3 IS", microscope "Jenamed 2" and digital camera "Canon DS 6031". Experimental bacterial staphylococcus endophthalmitis model was worked out. Scientific data on bactericidal impact of intravitreous injection of 1,0 mg of vancomycin independently and in complex with APDT and 0,1% MB in treatment of bacterial staphylococcus endophthalmitis are enriched. Besides, the experiment specified scientific data on hyperactivation of local immunity in case of bacterial staphylococcus endophthalmitis. Data on indicators of semi-quantitative estimation of a degree of histomorphological changes in treatment of bacterial staphylococcus endophthalmitis and getting them to normal ones due to combined application of APDT with 0,1% MB and intravitreous injection of 1,0 mg of vancomycin are extended. The experiment revealed the best therapeutic efficiency of application of APDT with 0,1% MC independently and in complex with intravitreous injection of 1,0 mg of vancomycin in treatment of bacterial staphylococcus endophthalmitis. Results of work are being used in the "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy NAMS of Ukraine". Sphere of use - medicine, ophthalmology.
