Essay

The object of research - charge-discharge processes in grains of metallized nickel hydroxide powder as an active material of nickel hydroxide electrodes for alkaline battery cells. Purpose - development of a method of surface metallization of nickel hydroxide powder as an active material of nickel hydroxide electrodes, and investigation of the relationship between its electrochemical properties and structure of the grains and metallization degree. Research methods - galvanostatic charge-discharge cycling, electron microscopy, X-ray analysis, volume photo registration, volumetry. For the first time the technology for producing metallized nickel hydroxide powder as an active material for positive electrodes of alkaline battery cells and electrochemical capacitors for application with a high rate of charge-discharge process was developed. High rate of charge and discharge with the saving of high capacity of electrodes is due to significant decrease in the resistance of mass and charge transfer in the optimal regular structure of porous volume. There were prepared laboratory samples of foil electrodes based on the soldered grains of metallized nickel hydroxide, which can be charged and discharged at a high current with the saving of high utilization of nickel hydroxide during long cycle life.
