The thesis concentrates on the complex analysis of R. Kipling's novels "The Light that Failed" (1891), "Naulakha" (1892), "The Captains Courageous" (1897) and "Kim" (1901). The research is carried out within the main historiographic searchings of the Victorian age. The main aim of the research is to expose the genre and style peculiarities of the Kipling's novels. The genre originality of the novel forms which he used in his creative works is determined. This is made in the context of genre tendencies in the English literature and the novel's development in the second half of the XXth century. The author comes to the conclusion that the Kipling's novels represent such form as the autobiographical novel about art and master, adventure novel in the form of "Indian Western", navy novel and spy novel. Kipling's novel is considered to have the multi-level structure which shows both traditional and innovative aspects of the English writer's creative work.
