Essay

The thesis deals with the analysis of poetics in late novels by Graham Greene at genre, paratext, composition, plot and character levels. Genre peculiarities in late novels by Greene were analyzed and factors providing evidence that they possess features of genre synthesis were identified. Polygenre novel model typical for Greene's late novels bearing problem thematic complex based on such concepts as love, sympathy, God, faith and lack of faith was determined. The influence of these concepts, related to the problem of characters' moral choice, forced to make decisions in extreme circumstances of the modern world is specified.
