Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of the traditions of H.Ibsen's "new drama" in the works of H. Krog, N. Grieg, S. Hoel. The concepts of "new drama", "ibsenism", "tradition" and "novelty, their constituent features and forms in the works of the Norwegian writers of the first half of the XX century have been clarified and analyzed. The thesis deals with the generic content of the play "The Great We" by H. Krog, the psychological peculiarities of his play "Copy" and the traditions and novelty developed in the play "The Sounding Shell". The peculiarities of N. Grieg's dramatic techniques, specific features of the confrontation of ideas in the play "But tomorrow" and the historic peculiarities of the play "The Defeat" have been considered in detail. The novel "Meeting at the Milestone" by S. Hoel has been analyzed with regard to its ideological and artistic system including the phenomenon of dramatization developed this work.
