Essay

The Subject of the research is formation processes of ceramic (fired) brick structure at low firing temperature. The purpose of the research is development of reinforced structure brick at low firing temperature. The research methods X-ray phase, differential thermal and electron-microscopic. Theoretical and practical results are, as follows: there have been developed raw material compositions on the base of natural raw materials for making 75-125 Grade ceramic brick with an average density of 1490-1550 kg/cbm; there have been developed raw material compositions for making a 200 Grade ceramic brick with an average density of 1350-1400 kg/cbm. Scientific novelty: it has been established that in the manufacture of ceramic brick firing temperature reduction from 950-1000оC to 800-870оC is achieved through partial dispersion by grinding of 25% of loam bonding substance together with 5% of ferrous waste material with further adding of 10% of sludge and at the complete substitution of natural loam raw material by ilmenite ore beneficiation after-products from the VSMMIW, sludge, ferrous waste material sand; there have been first obtained mathematical relations from ceramic brick strength and density to the ratio of the amount of sludge to ferrous waste materials. Implementation status: there have been implemented industrial test verification of the research results at the Novooleksandrivskyi Brick Works PJSC and determined technical and economic efficiency of ceramic brick manufacturing on the base of by-products. Application area: as a structural facing material for buildings and facilities.
