Samadov V. Cryodestruction with local microwave hyperthermia in combined treatment of malignant epithelial tumors of oral cavity (experimental - clinical study)

Dissertation is dedicated to the problem of improving efficiency of complex treatment for patients with malignant epithelial cancers of oral cavity by application of the proposed complex method - chemo-radiation therapy (CRT), cancer cryodestruction (CD) followed with local microwave hyperthermia. The method of complex application of tumor CD followed with local microwave hyperthermia was developed in experiment in vivo. In clinics the procedure was for the first time evaluated and applied in combination with CRT. The increase in patient’s 3-years total and recurrence-free survival was obtained. Morphological study demonstrated that irrespectively of treatment methods and tumor localization recurrences and metastases develop more frequently in patients with tumor grade III. The lowest number of recurrences and metastases was determined in the group of patients receiving CRT+CD+ microwave hyperthermia that suggested the highest efficiency of this treatment method.
