The thesis suggests a new contrastive approach to structure, semantics and pragmatics of derivative nouns with Latin suffixes to the designation of person in German and Ukrainian; the complex methodology of analysis of derivative nouns with Latin suffixes to the designation of the person in German and Ukrainian has been devised; the evolution development of suffixes of Latin origin in German and Ukrainian has been retraced; the derivative lexemes have been classified in lexical-semantic groups and their common and different types have been determined; the derivational semantics of derivative nouns with Latin suffixes to the designation of person has been characterized; the pragmatic meaning of derivative nouns with Latin suffixes to the designation of the person in German and Ukrainian have been distinguished.
