Essay

The thesis is devoted to the analysis of verbal representation of the key concepts of the mental plane ('mind', 'stupid', 'memory', and 'thought') in Chinese. The meaning and structure of these concepts and the methods of their verbalization are reconstructed in the study. The paper defines the system of signs on the conceptual, figurative, and estimated levels for all types of concepts as units of different mental subspheres: conceptualization of mental qualities ('mind'), conceptualization of mental activities products ('thought'), conceptualization of mental activities ('memory'), and conceptualization of mental disorders ('stupidity'). This, in turn, provided an opportunity to examine the scope of the selected concepts with the mentality of Chinese in terms of their incorporation of the features of ethnic, communicative, and cognitive processes in view of their display and structuring of the ethno-cultural picture of the world as a system of intuitive ideas about the degree of reality of 'possible world' with its semantics or a fragment of such world.
