The thesis suggests a new approach to the reconstruction of archetypical motives and alomotives in the semantics of the lexemes fire/вогонь in the English and Ukrainian languages; the mechanisms of transformation the archetypical meanings of fire into the stereotype symbols in invariant-variant lexemes with the semantics of "burn" in the phraseological units of the English and Ukrainian languages have been determined; the stereotype phraseological formulas with invariant-variant components with the semantics of "fire" have been classified; the regularities and differences in forming the archetypical and stereotype symbols of fire in the consciousness of native English and Ukrainian speakers have been defined.
