Momot A. Economic efficiency of high-speed passenger rail services in Ukraine

The thesis concentrates on developing of new theoretical, methodical and practical approaches to economic efficiency determination of the high-speed passenger traffic in Ukraine taking into consideration all possible factors which affect its competitiveness on the transport market. The thesis examines the development of high-speed passenger rail traffic in the world, analyses the research and scientific works on the high-speed traffic development in Ukraine and substantiates the necessity of the high-speed railway traffic in-troduction in Ukraine. The author has defined the place of high-speed traffic on the transport market, has analyzed the high-speed passenger traffic and has explored the main factors influencing the population mobility and the traveling speed. Also the optimization principles of the high-speed passenger traffic and improving their efficiency were offered in the thesis. Rational passenger train speeds and zones of their traffic were determined, princi-ples of the passenger traffic demand dependence on passenger traffic speeds and methodological approaches to determine the effectiveness of the construction and operation of high-speed highways were developed. The method of economic efficiency determination of constructing and operating high-speed highways was improved in the thesis.
