Essay

Given thesis is dedicated to the development of high-performance, flexible and re-producible technological process for the formation of multi-layer tool composites with default configuration by means of laser sintering. Novel and highly-efficient technological process of laser thermo-deformational sintering of CNB-based tool composites was developed, as well as computational techniques necessary for the development of technological processes and ready-to-use samples. Sintering process depicted in this thesis leads to the productivity increase in manufacturing of abrasive cutting tools from 0,5-1 mm2/min up to 50-100 mm2/min and allows to use various materials with hardness ranging from 300 to 10000 MPa including controlled positioning of CBN grains on a substrate along with possibility to create multi-layer coatings. Sintering mechanisms of abrasive CBN composites were investigated and mutual interaction among main technological parameters of sintering process and quality characteristics of composite (strength of CBN grains, wear resistance and bonding with base material).
