The work is dedicated to the research of psychological support of young adolescents with mental retardation.Theoretically analyzed the problem of psychological support in general and special psychology. The identified and explored the features of the social situation of young adolescents with mental retardation. The role of social and psychological competence as the key characteristics of personal development during the transition period. Theoretical model of psychological support for young adolescents with mentally retarded, structural and experimental model of socio-psychological competence, diagnostic measures, psychological support program to build social and psychological competence in young adolescents with mentally retarded. The results obtained contribute to renewal of scientific data on organizational and semantic aspects of psychological support for young adolescents with mentally retarded, specific personal development of young adolescents with mentally retarded, levels of socio-psychological competence in young adolescents with mentally retarded.
