The thesis is devoted to the improving the efficiency of diagnosing of metabolic syndrome in older school-age children suffering from obesity, living in different climatic and geographical areas and providing the Precarpathian regions with iodine on the basis of clinical and metabolic disorders. The increase of complaints of obesity among children and adolescents in all climatic and geographical areas of the Precarpathian region, mostly in the mountain and foothill areas in 2007-2012 was proved. The most common pathologies of the thyroid gland were found in children and adolescents of the mountain regions. In thyroid gland disorders predominant diffuse nontoxic goiter of the Ist - IInd degree prevailed in the mountain region. The study involved 225 children aged 14-18 years of living of iodine providing. In most adolescents with the signs of MS arterial hypertension (63,1%) was diagnosed. BMI and blood pressure were the highest in adolescents of the mountain region. Among children of high school age with the signs of MS coexisting pathology was revealed most often than in children of the same age suffering from obesity. The thyroid pathology was most often diagnosed in them than in a general population. Adolescents with MS often showed signs of hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance than children with obesity, mostly in the mountain region. Directly proportional to the increase in body mass index the level of leptin in serum increases, along with the increased levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, atherogenic index and reducing the amount of HDL cholesterol. The imbalances of thyroid hormones are found mostly in adolescents with metabolic syndrome manifestations of the mountain regions.
