The dissertation uncovers essence and ascertains peculiarities of formation and development of the institute of social security for servicemen. The work defines principles of social security for servicemen. It formulates features of normative-legal acts of specific legislature that regulate pension security for servicemen, including: firstly according to its essential characteristics legal relationship of pension security for servicemen pertains to distributive relationship, as far as they in legal form represent and substantiate economical relationship of redistribution of expenditure of monitory funds, videlicet the state budget; secondly existence of norms of general as well as specific pension legislature that regulate type of the examined relationship; thirdly servicemen pension relationship pertains to pecuniary relationship, as far as they are connected with material security of persons established by the legislature in the form of monetary assets. The dissertation proposes ways of enhancement of social security for servicemen.
