Essay

The thesis is devoted to the analysis of environmental communication that has persuasive and manipulative nature. It is observed that gradual greening of human consciousness is reflected in the English language with new concepts and naming units that are indicative of a new trend of human thought and the development of civilization. The active discussion of environmental issues in various spheres of life has allowed to distinguish environmental discourse within which specific language features and constructions are of great importance. It is proved that persuasiveness becomes the dominant strategy of text making in English environmental discourse. The communication strategies and verbal means of their implementation used in the discourse of green marketing and social media are singled out. Non-verbal manipulation tools used in contemporary environmental debate (ecosee) have high manipulative potential. Several ecotypes that condense symbols of international, national and local scale and trigger a number of associations are distinguished.
