Sieriakov O. The Bar Reform in 1864 in the Russian Empire: Historiography

The object of research: aggregate of the main groups of historiographical sources on the history of advocacy reform and its counter-reform, accumulated since the second half of XIX century. The aim of research: recreate the whole complexity and contradictions of the process of formation of historical knowledge about the formation and development of the advocacy, achievements and shortcomings of the reform, identifying the main directions and historical concepts in the study of this topic. The subject of research: the process of formation, establishment and augmenting of scientific knowledge about the development and implementation of the reform of the advocacy in the second half of XIX - early XX century. in the Russian Empire and Counter-Reformation of the government's measures. The methods of research: analyze, synthesis, logical, historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological. The results of research and novelty: the thesis concentrates on complex analysis of published papers of pre-soviet, soviet and present historiographic periods in which the level of development and introduction of the bar reform in the Russian Empire and its consequences for society of that time are reflected. Main directions of the theme studies have been determined. General state and completeness of its research have been found out. Propositions of further scientific analysis of under-investigated problems have been formulated. The sphere of usage: the further research of the current subject, writing of the synthesis works, manuals, reading of the high school courses on the history of Ukraine, of historiography, of chronology.
