The dissertation is dedicated to improving traction-speed characteristics, fuel efficiency and toxicity of vehicles with engines of different power by determining the optimal transmission gear ratios. Developed a optimizing methods transmission gear ratios of vehicles with engines of different power which provide the minimum acceleration time, minimum path of acceleration, minimum fuel consumption and minimum pollutants emission with vehicle exhaust gases. Experimental researches of the GAZ-31105 "Volga" confirm adequacy of the developed mathematical model.
