Object of research - prepress process. Purpose of research - development of models, method and information technology of prepress that will give opportunity to increase the efficiency of polygraphic products creation in publish houses. Thesis is devoted to working out of models, method and information technology of prepress. The model of the editorial stage of prepress is developed. The information-technological task of prepress is put and formalized; the approach of its solving is offered. Mathematical model of the task of article disposition on a page and object-oriented models of unified data structures for the task of prepress are built. The model of evaluation article disposition distinguished from private criteria known for structure and their parameters which are taking into account an economic target of release of the edition is advanced, the information importance of articles and the complete perception the consumer of pages, with articles placed on them is composite. Set of the private criteria, which includes 5 technological, 2 informational and 8 compositional criteria are constructed. Procedures of calculation of values of the appropriate parameters are given. Also procedures of calculation of parameters values are shown. The new method of the page structure formation is developed. Information technology of prepress preparation of book and periodical publications, which uses automated system G1, is improved. The results of thesis are introduced in publishing houses and are used in educational process.
