The thesis gives a communicative and paradigmatic analysis of the lingual representation of the author's concept of the positive in the protagonist's speech portrait taken from the American "western" novels. This research is the first attempt in linguistics to disclose links between the author's moral-and-ethical orientations and the speech syntax of his characters in the literary dialogue of the genre analysed.
