Thesis is devoted to the problem of selection of the optimal rolling-stock for carriage of goods regarding to road vehicle traction-speed properties and fuel efficiency. The method of selection of heavy-duty vehicle type in order to optimize their design parameters on the assumption of both traction-speed properties and fuel efficiency improvement considering operating conditions. The performance characteristics of rolling-stock various type were investigated on the basis of elaborated mathematical models. The recommendations regarding selection of vehicle type on the basis of performed investigations are given.
