Essay

The subject of the thesis is to improve the efficacy of diagnostics and treatment of hypertensive patients with concomitant abdominal obesity and without it based on the determined role of visfatin, pro- and anti-inflammatory factors - interleukin-4, -6, C-reactive protein, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism indicators, and markers of endothelial dysfunction in relationship with common carotid artery remodeling. The paper proves the importance of visfatin, interleukin-4 and -6, C-reactive protein, endothelial nitric oxide synthase in the mechanisms of development of common carotid artery remodeling and impairment of endothelium-dependent vasodilation. An improvement of combination antihypertensive therapy with addition of a lipid-lowering agent in patients with essential hypertension combined with abdominal obesity was substantiated, depending on the presence of dyslipidemia and the nature of common carotid artery remodeling. The data were presented on the relationship between medicamental decrease in IMC thickness, EDV indicators, and the level of visfatin, IL-6, CRP and eNos.
