Essay

The thesis deals with the optimization of design solutions for braced reinforced concrete frames for single-storey industrial buildings with rigid supports and foundations with a cutout on the sole. In addition, the problem of the distribution of horizontal forces and displacements of columns of the braced frame cross-section in view of the yielding property of foundations is analytically solved. The formulas are obtained for determining the optimal size of eccentrically loaded foundations with a longitudinal cutout on the sole under regulatory restrictions of pressures on the soil base. A design of a foundation with a cut on the sole is patented to increase the design resistance of soil. Experimental data on interaction between full-scale models of eccentrically loaded foundations with a cutout on the sole and soil bases are obtained for the first time in the field environment. Based on theoretical and experimental studies, a calculation algorithm is elaborated, and an "Braced Frame" computer program is developed to computerize and optimize designs for a braced frame under applicable regulatory restrictions.
