The paper suggests the unit of analysis which is a discursive context of the emotion concept FEAR; gives a definition of the concept FEAR based on the cognitive-discursive methodology; systematises the causation models and distinguishes gender specific causation agencies of the state FEAR; determines gender susceptible characteristics of nomination, description and expression of the emotion fear and also conventional and imaginative metaphors of fear. The concept FEAR actualised in the contemporary American fiction discourse is modeled as a field structure.
