Danylchenko S. Variation of the Word Accentual Structure in Terms of Contemporary English Pronunciation Norm (based on lexicographical sources)

The variability of English words accentual structures in terms of norms under study has qualitative and quantitative convergent and divergent peculiarities. The convergence of accentual variation lies in complete isomorphism of its inventory, and divergence includes differences in distribution of word stress place and degree. Free word accentual variation in different pronunciation norms is materialized by: transformation, simplification, complication and mirror symmetry. Integrated analysis of factors, defining word accentual structure variation, has shown that words accentual variants formation in normative aspect is provided with objective intralinguistic factors with a different degree of their influence on free variation.
