This dissertation submits an integrated approach to the study of conceptual triad SENSE : FEELING : EMOTION as a unit of the basic rank of the thymic category in modern English. The triad’s cognitive, semantic, morphological and derivational as well as discoursive features have been examined in the insights of semiology, cognitive linguistics, discoursive studies. The regularities of actualisation of the thymic lexis as the conveyor of the author’s motivation in the text have been defined.
