The essence of collective investment institutions, their functions and the role in the country's system of financial intermediation reveals in the dissertation. The peculiarities and patterns of the process of establishing the collective investment institutions and their impact to the national economy are investigated in complex, as well as their typology is widened. The complex of competitive advantages is defined and a comparative analysis of the competitive position of collective investment institutions is conducted compared with other financial intermediaries in the economy of Ukraine.
