Chaykovskaya O. Poetics of dramatization in W.S. Maugham's novels

The thesis identifies the peculiarities of dramatization on different levels of Maugham's novelistic poetics - in subject matter (plot), character, time and space organization, narrative structure. Maugham's novels are examined through his dramatical experience, the attempt is made to interpret the ways of prose dramatization as the system of broadening the fiction opportunities of epic genre and strengthening the influence of reader's reception. The fictional role of such forms and ways of dramatization in Maugham's novels as reduction of description, the transformation of narrative into display, performability of both architectonics and action development, "centering conflict"; plot allusions and blanks, the joint of action tension and reflective dramatization ("dramatized mind"); composition pointe; extending the functions of the dialogue, "dramatization" of fiction space; actualizing of "theatrical signs" ("game", "mask", "puppet", "buffoon"); speech dynamics has been ascertained.
