Essay

The dissertation deals with topical issues of estimating the severity of traumatic neuritis of the inferior alveolar nerve and choosing medicines to effectively correct the developing inflammatory and metabolic disorders within the nerve. The experimental part studies the character of pathomorphological changes in the inferior alveolar nerve and perineural tissues while modelling the experimental traumas of various severities among 111 animals. Also, a comparative morphological analysis of treatment effectiveness over the animals with the most severe neuritises was conducted in order to substantiate the reasonability of clinically using the modern non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs and neuroactive combined medicines "Milgamma" and "Cocarnit", which were used during the treatment. The clinical course peculiarities of the inferior alveolar nerve traumatic neuritis among the patients were clarified, three process severity degrees and the signs that characterize them were defined, diagnostic scales intended to determine the disease severity according to the injury mechanism and the process course were elaborated. The dynamics of these signs during the treatment was studied and analyzed. The devised algorithm for treating the inferior alveolar nerve traumatic neuritis of various severity degrees, which includes modern non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and combined neuroactive drugs, expands the arsenal of remedies with proved effectiveness, which makes their practical use reasonable in cases of traumatic neuritises that occur after conduction anaesthesia and operations close to the inferior dental canal.
