Essay

In the dissertation the somatotypological status and levels of adipokines in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been investigated. The presence of the clinical trials in course of the treatment of RA and the effectiveness of treatment depending on the somatotype and levels of adipokines in the blood of the patients examined. It has been stated that the high activity of RA is associated with the loss of the muscular component and the growth of the share of the adipose component in the body's weight with the tendency to the formation of endomorphic somatotype. It has been shown that among the patients with RA there dominate persons with the endomorphic body structure unlike those in the control group who are characterized by mesomorphy. It has been bound out that in patients with RA there takes place a significant increase of the production of leptin and the decrease of the production of adiponectin as compared to the persons of the control group. The data obtained point out to the probable pathogenetic role of disadipokinemia in RA. It has been shown that the positive effect of therapy depends to a ceratin degree on the patients' somatotype: a well-balanced somatotype is a predictor of the favourable course and sufficient sensitivity to traditional therapy, while endomorphic somatotype is a marker of high acivity and resistance to treatment. It has been stated that the effect from treatment depends on the levels of adipokines in the blood of the patients with RA. Hypoadiponekinemia and hyperleptinemia are markers of severity and predictors of resistance to treatment in patients with RA.
